EP study is a test performed to assess one heart’s electrical system and is used to diagnose abnormal heartbeats. The test is performed by inserting catheters and then wire electrodes, through blood vessels that enter the heart, which measures electrical activity, he informed.
Once the diagnosis of pathological beats is confirmed it can be cured by RF energy passed by a catheter. The test is performed under local anesthesia and patients can be discharged a few hours after the test. This facility is available in limited cardiac centers in the Tricity including Mukat Hospital, informed Dr. Bisht.
