Leading Specialists Discuss Emerging Liver Cancer Therapies
An academic meeting on “Recent Advances in Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC)” was organised at Hotel Shaurya, Patiala by the Chandigarh Healthcare & Academics Foundation (CHAF) in association with Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali.
The scientific session was delivered by Dr. Tegbir Singh Sidhu, Principal Consultant – Interventional Radiology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, Mohali, who shared the latest advances in the management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), one of the most common forms of primary liver cancer. He highlighted the growing role of image-guided minimally invasive procedures, targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and Transarterial Radioembolization (TARE) in improving outcomes for selected liver cancer patients.
The academic meet was attended by leading gastroenterologists, medical oncologists and physicians from Patiala, including Dr. Pramod Mittal, Dr. Sunil Arya, Dr. Amit Jindal and Dr. Ashish Kavia of Government Medical College & Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, along with several other healthcare professionals.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Tegbir Singh Sidhu said, “The treatment landscape for liver cancer is rapidly evolving with advances in interventional radiology and multidisciplinary care. Dr. Sunil Arya described the session as highly informative and clinically relevant, while Dr. Amit Jindal emphasised the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in improving patient outcomes. Dr. Ashish Kavia said the discussion on TARE and other minimally invasive therapies provided valuable insights into the future of liver cancer management.
